A well-established family law firm in Wheaton seeks a strong support staff of reliable, experienced, and professional paralegals/legal secretaries. Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a willingness to be a team player while maintaining motivation to work independently, and strong knowledge of MS Office products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents such as orders, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, petitions, and motions under the guidance of an attorney.
- Communicate with clients and other attorneys via phone and email in a professional manner.
- Assist clients with completion of financial disclosure statements and discovery requests.
- Draft professional client correspondence.
- Work closely with attorneys to prepare for trial by preparing exhibits, memorandums, and trial books.
- Possess the knowledge and ability to e-file.
- Assist with general office tasks, including answering office calls, taking new client calls, and obtaining preliminary information for potential new cases.
- Organize physical and electronic case files.
- Accurately calendar court dates, meetings, phone calls, depositions, etc.
Requirements:
- A paralegal certificate and/or 5 years of experience, preferably in family law.
- A history of strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of billing software and dictation is a plus.
