Primary Purpose of Position :

Responsible for ensuring facility compliance with the documented Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) system, including but not limited to; government regulations, corporate requirements, and facility policies, contributing to a safe working environment and the prevention of injuries and accidents. Supporting all personnel, processes, and equipment on-site to ensure work is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally compliant manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Drives the facility's implementation and monitoring of the EHS system.
  • Directly supports leadership in the evaluation of compliance to the EHS system through audits, observations, and other monitoring methods.
  • Executes tracking, trending, and reporting of EHS key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership.
  • Recommends solutions and take action to drive KPI improvements to reduce hazards and risk.
  • Plans and implements training programs for all EHS training of the Safety and ERT Teams.
  • Leads the facility Safety and ERT teams through scheduled meetings, projects, actions, and improvements in the compliance to the EHS system.
  • Evaluates processes and equipment to identify EHS related concerns, acting on identified improvements.
  • Maintains facility SDS system.
  • Supports Leadership in the development of annual EHS goals, plans, objectives, and budgetary input as directed.
  • Leads Incident Investigations, Worker Comp Claims, EHS Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA), EHS Gemba walks, and New or Modified Process / Equipment Reviews, (Risk Assessment and Job Safety Analyses).
  • Maintains training content for the facility per the EHS annual training schedule and any identified spot training required, including but not limited to, powered industrial vehicle operation, including forklifts, articulating lifts, tuggers, and scissor lifts (see annual schedule for related topics).
  • Leads annual facility evacuation and take cover drills.
  • Creates and presents safety material (Monthly chalk talks, orientation) to comply with OSHA regulations working closely with Leadership and HR.
  • Conducts new hire orientation safety (EHS) training.
  • Responsible for ensuring all PPE equipment is available and ready for use.
  • Provides occasional after-hours support to assist site personnel with emergency situations.
  • Supports and collaborates with EHS Manager on tasks assigned.

  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and / or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience in a safety or similar role.
  • Certifications / Licenses / Registrations :

  • EHS Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, QEP, CHMM)
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

  • Ability to communicate a full understanding of company policy and internal specifications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to teach, coach and drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to create a team-based culture
  • Must be a well-organized individual with a commitment to proper and accurate documentation
  • Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals both internally (manufacturing & office) and externally to The Stow Company
  • Must have excellent customer service skills; including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Sitting at workstation approximately 50% of work time
  • Standing and walking approximately 50% of work time
  • Ability to work extended hours, off-shift hours, or occasionally on weekends with short notice
  • Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
  • Must be able to travel between office and plant locations
  • Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts
