Quality Engineer (2 Openings)
- Location : Onsite in Mesa, AZ
- Pay Rate : Up to $60 / HR
- 1 year Contract - Potential for direct hire conversion
- Integrate quality assurance into all phases of manufacturing and assembly, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including dispositioning nonconforming materials, coordinating rework plans, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Conduct hands-on shop-floor quality surveillance, supporting real-time inspection, verification, and process compliance.
- Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis using 8D, 5-Whys, and DMAIC methodologies to address recurring quality issues.
- Reduce Scrap, Rework, and Repair (SRR) costs by implementing manufacturing process controls and quality-driven improvements.
- Facilitate Corrective Action Board (CAB) reviews, driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) across manufacturing and supply chain processes.
- Develop and refine Manufacturing Execution System (MES) workflows, ensuring proper tracking of nonconformances, escapes, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans are aligned with aerospace quality standards.
- Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102, ensuring manufacturing processes are qualified and repeatable.
- Partner with production teams to improve standard work instructions, process documentation, and operator training to drive quality accountability.
- Provide expertise in composite fabrication, assembly integration, and aerospace hardware inspection.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field
- 5 years of hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing quality engineering.
- Experience in composite aerospace structures, bonded assemblies, or metallic fabrication.
- Experience with manufacturing process validation, including FAI, PFMEA, and process capability analysis.
- Expertise in Material Review Board (MRB) processing, including nonconformance documentation, root cause investigation, and dispositioning hardware.
- Strong background in production floor quality support, including inspection, process auditing, and compliance verification.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Proficiency in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methods, including 8D problem-solving, CAPA, and DMAIC.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to interface with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and auditors.
- Hands-on experience with CMM, laser scanning, or non-destructive testing (NDT) for aerospace components.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications (CQE, CQA, or equivalent).
