The Program Director is responsible for assisting the Dean with the management of instructors, curriculum and educational resources for the efficient and effective operation of the assigned academic area to achieve the mission of the academic area and the institution. The program director is responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning and development.Responsibilities of the position include : Provides effective and progressive leadership for departmental and inter-departmental facultyAssesses the hiring needs of department and works with program coordinators to staff courses for each termMentors and trains new and existing faculty for continuous developmentMeets periodically with departmental faculty, both full and part timeReviews departmental funding requests of facultyConducts periodic evaluations of faculty in the departmentWorks with administrative assistants to coordinate class coverage for departmental faculty (day and evening) when absences occurProvides Registrar with proposals for course schedule each termCommunicates frequently with departmental counterparts on the main campus to ensure the consistency of curriculum and policyEvaluates syllabi of all departmental faculty to maintain academic integrity and consistencyCoordinates and participates in student advising for day, evening, and weekend students, conducting advising sessions and attending registration sessionsPresents departmental program information and scheduling advice at new student orientationsPresents departmental program information as requestedCoordinates advisory board meetings for each program in the departmentParticipates in professional activities, memberships, and conferences as permitted by university schedule and budgetDemonstrates professionalism and a student-centered focus at all timesEnsures academic rigor of courses by assessing and evaluating student progress on competency exam.Works with members of the Student Success team to track at-risk studentsProvides service to the university and the community as defined in the College of Allied Health workload policyInstructs the appropriate number of classes per term as defined by the College of Allied Health workload policyWorks with the Clinical / Practicum coordinator to select and approve practicum sites, coordinate practicum education, ensure documentation for practicum performance, ensure orientation to program’s requirements for personnel who supervise and instruct students, coordinate the assignment of students to practicum sites.Assists in providing accommodations to students with ADA issues and ensuring faculty involvement when appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements of the position include : Minimum of a Master’s Degree in respective (or related) discipline.RRT credential and current state licenseMinimum of 4 years RRT experience with at least 2 years of clinical respiratory care experienceTwo years of experience as a faculty member in an institution of higher education as : Appointed faculty in a CoARC respiratory care program ORClinical instruction / preceptor for student in a CoARC accredited respiratory care programBe willing to complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program shortly after hireAn equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.Knowledgeable in programmatic material for department including academic institution and academic curriculum.Knowledge of the principles and practices of retentionKnowledge of admissions policies and procedures.Knowledge of diverse populations and cultures.Good managerial and organizational skills.Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills required.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Explorer required.Expertise in technology relevant to the discipline.Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while working for extended periods of time.Must be able to sit and / or stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.This job description lists the major responsibilities of the job title listed.
