The Berkeley Heights YMCA, a branch of the Summit Area YMCA (SAY), are seeking a responsible Lead Afterschool staff members for the 2024-25 School Year. The Lead Afterschool Staff member is the point of contact for their afterschool site. They ensure that the children in the program receive a fun, friendly, well-rounded, safe environment for children to safely spend their after school time, while providing all children with a diverse and enriching program. The Lead staff help to create and implement weekly lessons plans and activities.
The SAY provides After school programming in the local elementary schools in New Providence and Berkeley Heights as well as on site at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. There are open Lead Afterschool staff positions at the different off site locations, please indicate which site(s) you are interested in working.
This position is part time with an opportunity to work up to 25 hours each week, with an opportunity to work more hours during Holiday breaks. Wages are competitive, starting $17.00/hour, but based on experience. Benefit of employment at the Y incudes a free YMCA membership and discounts on family membership.

Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have experience working with young children.
- Prior experience working in a child care/ afterschool setting is a plus.
- Must possess planning and organizational skills, leadership and personnel qualities.
- Current CPR/ AED & First Aid certifications
