Part-time
Summit School is an independent school located in Winston-Salem, NC seeking coaches for our Varsity and JV tennis teams made of 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. The coach will be responsible for practices, matches, and overall program management throughout the tennis seasons, which are in the fall (August to October) and Spring (February to May)
Job Type: Part-time
Seasonal/Temporary
Time commitment of 10-20 hours per week.
Candidates must demonstrate a proven aptitude for coaching as illustrated by a strong work ethic, organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills and an ability to improve the skills of the students on the team.
Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in our athletic programs
Plan and evaluate a 4-5 day tryout period at the beginning of each season.
Plan and execute effective practices.
Create and execute game strategy.
Establish and maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, and athletic administrators.
Travel when necessary to off campus practices and matches.
General Statement of Duties:
Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in tennis skills and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition and to motivate student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. Qualified candidates demonstrate and encourage sportsmanship, character and team skills to develop lifelong learning in each student athlete.
Previous experience playing the sport is essential and coaching experience is preferred.
