At Summit School, we are passionately committed to fostering an environment where every student is empowered to flourish, discover their unique potential, and achieve meaningful growth.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Math Teacher to inspire our students in grades 6-9. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with dedicated colleagues and contribute to our mission of delivering a top-tier education through progressive pedagogy.

Job Description:

The Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive mathematics instruction to students in grades 6 through 9. This role encompasses teaching core mathematical concepts, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical principles, and developing students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills. In addition to classroom instruction, the Math Teacher will serve as an academic advisor, providing guidance and support to a group of students. As an integral member of a grade-level team, this position requires active collaboration with teachers across disciplines and studio areas to create meaningful interdisciplinary connections. Effective communication and partnership with parents are also essential components of this role. All Upper School faculty actively participate in routine duties, attend weekly faculty meetings, and engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance their practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated mathematics lessons aligned with Summit School’s curriculum and progressive teaching methodologies.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages exploration, inquiry, collaboration, and a genuine love for mathematics.
  • Develop and implement assessments that accurately measure student understanding, track progress, and inform instructional practices.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and growth.
  • Serve as an academic advisor, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to a group of students regarding their academic and social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate effectively with grade-level colleagues and studio teachers to create integrated learning experiences and support student success.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with parents regarding student progress, curriculum, and school events.
  • Actively participate in grade-level team meetings, faculty meetings, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the mathematics curriculum.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties and contribute to the overall positive and safe learning environment of the school.
  • Embrace and integrate progressive teaching philosophies and methods into daily practice.
