We're currently seeking a dynamic PE/Athletics Teacher & Head Coach  to join our team, collaborating closely with other educators to ensure the delivery of top-notch education that aligns with our mission and progressive pedagogy.

Purpose: Summit School seeks a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as a full-time Physical Education Teacher for students in Eaglets (3 years old) through 5th grade, while also leading as a Head Coach for a minimum of two sports seasons within our vibrant Summit Athletics program. This dual role offers a unique opportunity to inspire a lifelong love of movement and healthy living in our youngest learners and to cultivate athletic excellence and character development in our Upper School students.

• Teaching & Coaching:
   
  • Inspire both colleagues and students to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle through enthusiastic and engaging instruction and leadership.
  • Create a dynamic and exploratory learning environment for each child in Physical Education classes, modeling positive behavior, promoting flexible thinking, and fostering a sense of discovery.
  • Actively cultivate character growth, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct in students through both Physical Education curriculum and athletic coaching.
  • Possess the ability to develop and implement interdisciplinary units that connect physical activity with other areas of learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing and implementing innovative physical activity initiatives that extend beyond the traditional classroom setting.
  • Embrace and implement Summit’s transformational coaching model, prioritizing the individual needs and development of each student-athlete.
  • Exhibit passion for coaching and a genuine commitment to the holistic growth and development of student-athletes, both on and off the field/court.

  • Report directly to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physical Education or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate Physical Education curriculum.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Proven experience as a Head Coach in two or more different sports at the middle or high school level.
• Current CPR certification and First Aid training are required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust ones tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
