What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Associate position at The Sunrock Group?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Associate to join our Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing supplier invoices and payments related to construction materials, subcontractor services, and other expenses. You’ll ensure all documentation and management approvals are complete, charges are correctly coded to general ledger accounts, and payments are made on time. This position offers a great opportunity to support key financial operations in a fast-paced construction environment. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with potential overtime as needed, especially during peak construction periods. Key Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices for timely payment, verifying approvals and proper G/L, job costing, and phase code assignment.
- Ensure accurate data entry into the financial system and maintain electronic AP records and vendor files.
- Set up new vendor accounts with complete, approved information.
- Collaborate with internal departments and maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Stay up to date on sales and use tax regulations for compliance.
- Organize and file AP documentation for easy retrieval and audits.
- Perform administrative tasks and support broader Accounting Department initiatives.
- Proactively contribute to departmental and company-wide goals.
- Take on additional duties as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent follow-through.
- Proficient and efficient data entry skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical and operational documents in English.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and comfort with financial software systems.
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and strong filing/auditing skills.
- Effective organizational and prioritization skills.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external vendors.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; a minimum of two (2) years of accounting or related experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
