Description

Merchandising Generalist- is a mid-level position bringing relevant back ground and experience in a procurement role.

OR

Merchandizing Associate-  is an entry level position for an individual having no procurement background or relevant translatable work.

 

Position Summary:

Merchandising Generalist:

In this position, you will be responsible for procuring both stock and special order products. You will be expected to research and source products not currently offered to fill our customers’ needs. Productive interaction with peers and management at all levels is required, as well as with vendors, suppliers, and wholesalers as needed. In addition, you will assist with item database maintenance.

 

POSITION EXPECTATIONS               

  • Purchase various category items and secures total quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of material supply throughout the total product lifecycle for the assigned category, while driving competitive advantage for both our Company and Customers alike
  • Place purchase orders to vendors capable of receiving via EDI or other forms of electronic transaction
  • Validate receipt, review, and correct all EDI and fax confirmations in order to ensure no service failures
  • Confirm vendor acknowledgements of POs the same day of placement to, verify price, unit of measure and delivery information taking necessary corrective action the same day, notifying internal customers immediately of critical backorder situations
  • Resolves supplier issues that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, specifications, quantity or cost of purchased goods in a timely fashion.
  • Be able to act quickly to find and implement solutions to issues interfering with product delivery schedule
  • Maintain a high degree of communication, cooperation and coordination with assigned departments regarding purchases
  • Respond to Sales / Customer Service requests for price and availability
  • Source stock and special order requirements
  • Maintain and understand product records related to inventory levels and replenishment, to include stock vs. nonstock status, min/max, safety stock, lead time, and various methods of forecasting requirements to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Create new items in database and perform item database maintenance as needed
  • Ensure all items available for sale are visible on our e-Commerce sites with quality content and appealing images
  • Maintain and / or update vendor database as needed
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making skills
  • Is capable of working independently and with minimal supervision
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential 
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Certifications and /or Licenses:

                High School Diploma or GED Certificate required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.                 

Experience:

3 years relevant work experience

  • Purchasing / Merchandising experience is preferred, but not required

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Outlook and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal & problem resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdepartmental team
  • Organization and time management
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Conscientious and positive attitude

Merchandising Associate :

In this entry-level position, you will be trained on fundamental Purchasing principles, our ERP system, reports, and other tools that exist to assist you in making educated procurement decisions Once trained, you will be responsible for procuring both stock and special order products. Productive interaction with peers and management at all levels is required, as well as with vendors, suppliers, and wholesalers as needed.
