Position Short Description
The Housekeeping Manager is a key member of the Surf Hotel leadership team, overseeing all aspects of housekeeping operations, including all guest rooms, laundry, common areas (including the ballroom), and residences. We operate 62 hotel rooms and 33 residences including our brand new Surf House property. This role ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and hospitality while fostering a positive work environment for the housekeeping team. We have the challenges of a seasonal market with very busy and slower times. The Housekeeping Manager reports to the Director of Rooms and collaborates closely with other departments to create an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities:
Housekeeping Operations
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations for guest rooms, common areas, and residences.
- Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to Surf Hotel standards.
- Ensure all housekeeping procedures align with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Coordinate with the Front Desk and Maintenance teams to address guest needs and room readiness.
- Implement and uphold best practices for laundry services, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Required computer proficiency in excel, scheduling, purchasing, reporting and other relevant programs.
Team Management & Leadership
- Interview, hire, train, and manage housekeeping staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Schedule housekeeping staff to align with occupancy demands and operational needs.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance evaluations to housekeeping team members.
- Address and resolve employee concerns, ensuring a positive work environment.
Inventory & Budget Management
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and have necessary computer skills.
- Monitor and control housekeeping expenses while maintaining quality standards.
- Implement strategies to reduce waste and enhance sustainability efforts while maintaining quality.
Guest Experience & Service
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and feedback.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Uphold Surf Hotel’s commitment to providing an exceptional, clean, and welcoming environment.
Schedule:
- Typical schedule of five days on and two days off. Though we try to schedule consistently with two consecutive days off, some weeks may require more time and/or split off days. Must work weekends year round.
Benefits:
- Schedule: 40 to 50 hours per week on average. On occasion it will be necessary to manage time-sensitive matters during non-standard hours. It is expected that you will be present and available as necessary for the operation to run smoothly.
- Paid time off: Up to three weeks per year. Given the seasonal nature of Buena Vista, our expectation is that time off is taken during slower times.
- 401(k): If you choose to join our 401k plan and maximize your contribution, we will make a matching contribution equal to 3.5% of your salary.

Compensation: Annual salary of $50,000 to $65,000 depending on experience.
