#1831 Quality Assurance Manager Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager s main responsibility is to manage day-to-day quality control activities that ensure specification compliance, and the technical integrity of products are executed to the high standards required by the aerospace industry. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are non-negotiable skills for this role. Exceptional management skills, approachability, clarity in giving direction and delegating responsibilities, and an ability to see the big picture will ensure success in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team comprised of Quality Control and Quality Assurance personnel ensuring their loyalty, continuous development and unity as a team.
  • Support budget/sales objectives i.e. manage throughput of Quality Department.
  • Ensure customer requirements are being fulfilled through support of Quality Control and Quality Assurance performance.
  • Collect and report metrics to support continual improvement activities.
  • Facilitate continual improvement activities with cross-functional teams to and reduce operational costs produced by scrap and rework.
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer communication.
  • Ability to build a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Incorporate Standard Work requirements to the team to ensure goals and performance metrics are met.
  • Ability to interpret and make decisions regarding quality specifications.
  • Assess and implement the appropriate data analysis, quality methods, inspection criteria and procedures to ensure the technical integrity of our quality processes and results.
  • Supports and drives supplier development.
  • Develops collaborative and formal partnerships with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations and Production Control.
  • Ensures the sites Quality organization is a full patterner to attaining Company objectives.
  • Quality resource management and succession planning.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.
  • Create, implement, and maintain the quality assurance system.
  • Identify capital equipment planning to be purchased.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree in technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of Manufacturing and Quality control experience in Aerospace or other complex manufacturing industry with exacting/demanding requirements and a minimum of 3 years experience as a Quality manager.
  • Strong skills in FMEA, PPAP, RCCA, 5Y and Process Management.
  • DSQR is preferred. Must test ASAP to obtain this certification.
  • Strong Knowledge in GD&T.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Advanced Excel skills and in-depth knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Must understand customer requirements for the manufacturing and special processes in a complex environment.
  • Unrelenting problem identification and mistake-proof resolution skills.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) compliant with AS9100D and Nadcap
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection Report requirements.
  • Experience with tooling prove-out first piece for NPI.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Leads by example.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supplier management.
  • Exceptional time management abilities.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
