Behavior Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Specialist to join our team at The Tasselli Group, a behavioral health organization committed to supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other developmental disorders. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in behavioral health and hands-on experience working with this population. This field-based role involves providing therapeutic support and implementing behavioral interventions in clients’ homes or community settings, ensuring their well-being through personalized, evidence-based care. The Behavioral Specialist will work closely with clients, families, support staff, and other professionals to foster positive behavioral changes and enhance the lives of those we serve.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional behavior assessments by observing and interviewing clients and staff to identify behavioral challenges and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized positive behavior support plans tailored to each client’s goals, as outlined in their individual support plan.
• Provide direct, hands-on support to clients in their homes or community sites, adhering to the frequency and duration specified in the individual support plan.
• Collaborate with clients, support staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams (e.g., support coordinators, educators, and therapists) to advance the goals and objectives of the positive behavior support plan.
• Collect and analyze data on client progress, making data-driven adjustments to interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including behavior support notes for each client visit and other required paperwork, in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Supervise clients and monitor their behavior to assess daily progress, regression, or irregular patterns, providing feedback and guidance to staff as needed.
• Actively participate in the development and review of individual support plans, ensuring they are comprehensive and client-centered.
• Provide training and support to caregivers and staff on effective behavior management strategies and intervention techniques.
• Stay informed about advancements in behavioral health, particularly related to intellectual disabilities and autism, and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Check in with supervisors monthly and report updated information to support coordinators to ensure coordinated and consistent care.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission and meet the evolving needs of our clients.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field from a four-year college or university; Master’s degree (M.A./M.S.) or equivalent preferred. Minimum of two to four years of experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, or other developmental disorders, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certificates and Licenses: Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License or Functional Behavior Assessment Certificate required.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing positive behavior support plans.
• Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to monitor client progress and adjust interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, families, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently in a field-based role across various community and home-based settings.
• Empathy, patience, and adaptability, with a genuine passion for improving the lives of adults with disabilities through evidence-based behavioral support.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as the role requires travel to clients’ homes and community locations.
