Security Guard

Job Accountabilities:

• Keeps log of all incoming and outgoing traffic, receives and transmits delivery tickets after hours.
• Checks for evidence and records incidences found in the shop such as fire, air, gas or water leaks; lights, air compressors, or machines not turned off, etc. and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Monitors plant and off-site security camera system and fire alarm system.
• Acts as switchboard operator during non-regular hours, and notifies proper department head of notifications from employees who are going to be absent.
• Examines return to work slips and gives authorization for employees who are returning to work.
• Receives calls after hours from vendors or dealers. Notifies SSI on-call-personnel of any emergency requests for parts and / or service.
• Anyone desiring to enter the plant after hours must report to the guardhouse for approval and be logged in.
• Turns heat on inside the buildings when the temperature falls below 28 degrees in order to keep the pipes from freezing. Checks and turns down thermostats in offices and buildings.
• In the event of a fire, notifies the fire department. Starts evacuating the building where the fire is located and is on standby to direct the fire department. Same actions are followed in the event of natural disasters.
• In the absence of the Corp Safety Mgr. or Supervisor, required to administer first aid and log accidents in the first aid logbook.
• Distributes payroll and disability checks at various times from the guardhouse.
• Is alert to employees entering and leaving the plant during change of shift. Checks all property being carried off premises for written approval by Operations Manager. Keeps receipts and turns in to Human Resources.
• Assists management personnel with lunch box or other checks. Advises Management of any suspicious behavior or articles entering or leaving the plant.
• Coordinates with other guards in the event of a guard transition, emergency, or vacation. Contacts and coordinates absences with replacement guards as needed.
• Reviews daily guard reports on a weekly basis after being initialed by primary first shift guard; reports deficiencies to the Corp Safety Manager.

• Job Requirements:

• High School Education or GED equivalent.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Must have valid driver?s license and good driving record to be insurable by corporate insurance carrier.
• Physical requirements: Incumbent must be able to walk plant property making rounds multiple times daily and be able to walk up and down stairs.
• Must maintain a good appearance as a representative of the company.
• Must be observant of surroundings at all times.
• Must be personable and possess good communication skills.
