Position Summary
The Chief of Staff (CoS) is an experienced leader that will have an active partnership role with the President & CEO of TCW and the senior leadership team. The CoS is a new and critical position for TCW amidst organizational growth and change. This role will support and provide thought partnership to the CEO in many different aspects, including planning and execution of strategic initiatives, board relations and communications internally, intra-company and externally with partners, clients, and the media.
The successful candidate is a self-starter and quick learner with excellent organizational, project management and relationship-building and social skills/EQ. Day to day, the CoS will often shadow the CEO, joining her meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and use organizational and strategic frameworks to activate on decisions and areas for exploration or coordination. The CoS will also work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to ensure everyone is aligned with CEO’s strategic vison and objectives, and to offer additional channels for input, feedback, and communications.
Essential Duties
Partnership with CEO
- Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, helping her analyze, problem-solve, troubleshoot, and support mission-critical relational and organizational priorities.
- Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders alongside the CEO, gaining visibility into key parts of the business(es), contribute to conversations as appropriate, make connections between priorities, and manage action items and next steps including but not limited to facilitating the flow of information, convening next meetings and activation of team members, as appropriate; also responsible for providing regular updates on progress.
- Ensure CEO is set up to successfully navigate her day/week by helping to prioritize her responsibilities and time, organizing materials for review and ensuring others are optimally ready for their time with her, which requires a steadily increasing understanding of TCW’s businesses, strategy, priorities and the role and contribution of each team.
- Work with Corporate Communications, Marketing and Legal to prepare CEO for public speaking engagements.
- Create tailored PowerPoint presentations in collaboration with the CEO, including board, client, prospect, partner and public speaking presentations.
- Coordinate closely with CEO's Executive Assistant and Project Manager to ensure the prioritization of the CEO’s time and efforts through efficient management of her calendar and inbox.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure that the company's talent strategy is aligned with the CEO's vision and objectives.
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on initiatives to foster a strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence across the organization.
Board Relations
- Work with CEO on Board strategy, planning, communications and coordination, helping ensure the Board is always informed on organizational priorities and key updates.
- Prepare Board agendas, prepare and/or compile meeting materials and supporting content.
- Facilitate the information flow between Management, the Board and the various Board Committees.
- Support (indirectly lead) the work of board committees from time to time.
- Serve as liaison with staff, executives, senior leaders, and CEO regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning.
Executive Communications & Culture
- Ensure coordination and communication globally across TCW, build strong relationships and steadily increasing understanding of the firm’s vision, priorities, and work.
- Create and implement a strategic communications plan for the CEO’s internal communication across the company including planning the cadence of CEO agenda items for the Management team, Executive team, and all Team meetings.
- Partnering with HR and senior leadership team to help preserve TCW culture as the organization evolves and experiences higher level of change and uncertainty; identify teams or individuals that need support and help the CEO address issues and any cultural anomalies.
- Convene senior leaders and team members as needed to create forums for collaboration and information sharing.
- Keep a finger on the pulse of not only our competitors, but also TCW and the leadership teams, ensuring organizational health, identifying areas of needed support, and opportunities for team building and help foster a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- 7 years of professional experience in leading or managing cross-functional projects.
- Prior experience as a strategic Chief of Staff, Department lead, Project/Program manager in a role with regular CEO/executive level interaction.
- 3 years of experience in asset management or related industry, with a track record of working with or supporting senior leaders and/or company executives.
- Proven excellent relationship building experience across all levels of management and Board required.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn new systems quickly.

Estimated Compensation:
Base Salary: For CA based position, the base salary range is $200k - $300k. This is an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
