Position Summary
The candidate will be a key member of TCW’s Emerging Markets Portfolio Specialist team, which is responsible for promoting asset growth, client engagement, product strategy and business development for TCW’s $11 billion Emerging Markets Fixed Income business.
This role requires strong quantitative, communication and written skills, as well as excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. The candidate will report to the Head of the EM Portfolio Specialist team and will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with portfolio managers, research analysts, and colleagues from a variety of departments across the firm. The candidate will have the opportunity to take on independent client-facing responsibilities over time.
Essential Duties
- Prepare regular commentary on portfolio performance attribution, portfolio holdings and financial markets
- Author responses to portfolio-related questions in RFPs, questionnaires, and ad hoc client requests
- Contribute to content creation – marketing presentations, white papers, podcasts, and other thought leadership that highlights the Emerging Market team’s views
- Actively partner with TCW’s salesforce to ensure they have the necessary tools, presentations and support to promote the EM business
- Conduct ongoing market research and competitor analysis to keep abreast of industry trends to ensure that the firm’s EM offerings remain competitive
- Opportunity to represent the firm independently in meetings with clients and prospects to discuss the product suite, positioning and performance over time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 2-5 years of experience in the financial services or asset management industry. Fixed income research experience preferred
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into comprehensible insights
- Demonstrated competency in sales and business writing. Demonstrated knowledge of financial markets
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Bloomberg and Factset proficiency a plus

- A self-starter who takes initiative. Flexibility and teamwork are essential in this collaborative role, as well as the ability to be resourceful and work independently.
- Well-organized and ability to manage multiple requests from a variety of sources with a range of deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
- MBA or Master’s degree
- Prior experience in fixed income research preferred, but not required
Estimated Compensation:
Base Salary: For CA based position, the base salary range is $110k to $125k. This is an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
