Kitchen Assistant/Porter Position
As a Kitchen Assistant or Kitchen Porter, as the Brits call it, you will be working directly under the Kitchen Manager and mainly responsible for assisting in food prep, cleanliness of the kitchen, and service. This is a great position for someone looking to work in the specialty food industry and who has a liking for food preparation and service. Restaurant experience not required, but hard work and commitment is expected. This is a part-time or full-time position and applicant must be willing to work regularly on weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Kitchen Manager during service
- Food prep including sandwiches, desserts and other specialty dishes
- Coordinate guest count and reservation information daily
- Assist Kitchen Manager with inventory and food orders
- Prepare service trays and all tasks needed to begin service
- Ensure food prep areas are clean and hygienic
- Wash utensils and dishes and make sure they are put away properly
- Prepare takeout orders
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
- Restaurant industry experience a plus
- Ability to work quickly but efficiently
- Stamina and enthusiasm
- Excellent communication skills and customer relations
- Ability to keep calm under pressure
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Cooking/baking experience
