Jackson State Community College is seeking a dedicated individual to join our faculty as a Full-Time Psychology Instructor. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of our psychology program, contributing to both academic excellence and the broader college community through shared governance and committee work.
Job Summary
This is a full-time, academic-year (9 month), one-year term (renewable) appointment within the
department of Social Sciences. The instructor is responsible for the planning, presentation, and
evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing
assigned duties during the day and evening on any Jackson State Community College Campus.
Job Duties
- Teaching : Deliver high-quality instruction in psychology courses, including General Psychology, Life Span Psychology, and other courses as assigned, using innovative teaching methods to engage and inspire students.
- Student and Course Assessment : Assess student performance through various methods and contribute to the continuous improvement of student learning outcomes in each course taught.
- Program Development : Coordinate with other psychology faculty and the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences to expand and enhance the psychology program, including curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Student Advising : Provide academic advising and mentorship to students in the Psychology and General Studies Transfer Pathways, supporting their educational and career goals.
- Shared Governance : Actively participate in college governance, including serving on committees and contributing to policy development and decision-making processes.
- Community Engagement : Foster relationships with local organizations and community partners to create opportunities for student internships, service learning, and collaborative projects.
- Professional Development : Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in the field of psychology and higher education.
- Other Duties as Assigned : Perform additional tasks as required to support the mission and goals of the college.

Pay Rate : $47,098 - $56,518 Annual salary depending on eligible experience, and will be determined by degree level, which is defined by the current compensation plan.
