Job Summary
The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the TBR hosted Banner database systems supporting the TBR Service Center. The DBA team at TBR manages and maintains the Ellucian Banner database and applications systems for the service center institutions, including Banner Student, Banner Finance, and Banner HR modules. The DBA role is responsible for collaborating with the DBA and IT team, institutional stakeholders, and end-users to ensure the efficient and reliable operation and performance of the Banner system and its related databases. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Oracle database administration and possess expertise in managing, updating, and administering the Ellucian Banner System using modern practices.
This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, in Tennessee, with the occasional need to travel to the Central office and or College campuses for in person meetings.
Job Duties
- 40% - Operations and maintenance of Banner, Oracle and / or other SQL based database systems including upgrading, patching, installation and configuration, and backup and recovery operations. Operations and troubleshooting Tomcat application server including upgrading, patching, installation and configuration, and application deployments. - (Essential)
- 20% - Provide support to end users as needed with database issues, troubleshooting, special configurations, etc. Assist with the installation / configuration / maintenance of application server software and applications in an n-Tier environment that includes Tomcat and Apache. Application upgrades and reconfiguration based on application life cycle and product requirements. - (Essential)
- 5% - Detect and facilitate restoration of database failure and other mission critical outages; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems. Monitor and maintain backup systems that provide the means for ensuring the service level agreement is met for shortest time to recover. - (Essential)
- 5% - Responsible, in cooperation with server administrators for the overall uptime of the system, ensuring that each system is accessible to end-users as is documented in its SLA. - (Essential)
