Title : Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences
Job Summary
This position is an experienced academic administrative leader for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. This twelve-month position serves as the senior academic officer for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and is responsible for overall management and leadership of that area. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Job Duties
- Supervisor for faculty in Humanities and Social Sciences
- Responsible for faculty hiring, development, evaluation, load assignment
- Initial contact for personnel issues related to faculty
- Develops and maintains an academic plan in alignment with the School's goals, College's mission and strategic plan, with the over-arching goal of supporting student success.
- Coordinates a data collection and assessment strategy for student learning and program outcomes to measure and plan continuous improvement.
- Conducts annual program reviews and assessments
- Works with faculty and recommends curricular changes based on data; ensures compliance with institutional, TBR, and SACSCOC policies
- Promote faculty and professional development activities
- Collaborates with faculty and staff, in both curricular and co-curricular formats, to increase the quality and depth of experiential education activities in courses
- Ensures quality of instruction in classes in all modalities
- Works with Center Directors and Office of High School Initiatives for staffing Center, Middle College, and Dual Enrollment courses.
- Addresses student issues related to the classroom experience, interaction with faculty and grade concerns
- Works with Department chairs scheduling classes including times, dates, instructor, location, method
- Oversees grants and other funding related to responsible areas
- Collaborates with Deans and Vice-President of Academic Affairs to review and update policies and procedures that impact the division.
- Serve on campus and TBR committees and work teams as necessary
- Other administrative duties deemed appropriate. The above list is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather identify key aspects of the position.

Pay Range : $82,257 - $102,822 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
