Job Title: Assistant Principal of Instruction(API)/STEM Coordinator

As our Assistant Principal of Instruction and STEM Coordinator, you’ll inspire teachers to bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life in ways that keep girls engaged and excited about their futures.
In this pivotal role, you’ll:
- Shape academic plans that are not only rigorous but also ignite a love for learning.
- Lead teachers in delivering hands-on, project-based experiences that connect STEM to real-world solutions.
- Champion our mission to empower young women to innovate, solve problems, and become the confident leaders of tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan School Academics and Instructional Materials for the founding year and beyond (50%)
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to design and establish an academic plan and instructional goals for all middle school grade levels as well as selecting instructional materials and curriculum aligned with The Texas Girls School mission and vision.
Implement School Academic plan and instructional goals (50%)
- Oversee the professional development of all teachers and the success of the academic plan during the first year of the school starting July 2025. Review the academic data for all students weekly to ensure the success of our academic plan and adjust as necessary.
Performance Goals:
1. Instruction and Data Leadership
- Assist in writing the job descriptions, master calendar, and hiring of teachers.
- Collaborate with the superintendent to set school-wide instructional priorities.
- Assist in the review and selection of instructional materials through EMAT/LASO (Instructional Materials Coordinator).
- Lead the implementation of the school's curriculum and instructional framework.
- Coach teachers on effective instructional strategies, including differentiation, assessment practices, and lesson planning.
- Facilitate collaborative planning and professional development opportunities for teachers.
- Attend weekly PLC meetings for all grade levels and guide teachers.
- Ensure curriculum is aligned with state standards (TEKS) and school goals.
- Analyze student achievement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Foster a positive school culture that supports high expectations for student achievement.
- Grow and evaluate teachers using the TTESS system.
- Assist with TIA (as needed).
2. STEM Practices Coordination
According to TEA, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is a method of hands-on teaching and learning where students learn to apply academic content by creatively solving real-world problems with innovative design-based thinking to prepare students for future career opportunities.
- Lead the Friday Culture Assemblies, Speaker Series, and PBL/STEM Exhibition Day
- Create and implement STEM curriculum, initiatives, and educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders by working with educators, community organizations, schools, and businesses to promote STEM activities.
- Oversee the management of resources and staff development.
- Coordinate program logistics at schools and work with school administration, teachers, and parents.
- Evaluate lesson plans for STEM integration.
3. Project Based Learning (PBL)
- Design and lead PBL curriculum aligned with learning standards across different subject areas.
- Incorporate authentic problems and real-world scenarios into project designs.
- Ensure PBL Days are aligned with TEKS cross-curriculum.
- Lead the Flex Friday activities and field trips in collaboration with APO.
- Ensure integration of STEM in all PBL initiatives.
4. Girls’ School Best Practices
- Oversee the network and collaboration with the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools and Texas Women Preparatory Network members
- Ensure all training and best practices for Girls’ Schools are implemented in the classrooms
- Oversee the Inspirational Women Speaker Series
5.Special Populations*
- Work with Special Populations Department in Year 1 to oversee the implementation of accommodations and modifications for Special Populations of students
- Support with ARD and 504 meetings with the support of the teachers and APO
- Support the maintenance of all IEP and other student records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Lead the training and implementation of all LPAC and TELPAS state requirements
- Lead the training and planning for gifted and talented programming
6.Advisory/College Success/Social Emotional Learning
- Build relationships with students.
- Lead the Social Work/Counseling Team.
- Ensure implementation of a Social/Emotional Learning curriculum and/or practices in the advisory program.
- Restorative Conversations Lead (Proactive Classroom Management).

Qualifications:
- Masters of Education or other graduate degree
- Principal Certification
- 3 to 7 years of work experience, including at least 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience with charter schools and fast-paced environments.
- Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to upholding high standards of academic excellence
- Ability to be calm under pressure, especially in difficult conversations and circumstances.
- Fast learner with attention to detail.
Salary & Benefits:
