Job Description
Bridges aides are part-time (30 hours a week) paid employees and are critical team members to the Bridges School. Aides are supervised by the Bridges Teachers. Aides work closely with teachers and therapists to ensure consistency in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
Assisting with Classroom Instruction:
- Help the lead teacher deliver lessons and instructional activities.
- Provide individualized support to students who need extra help during whole-group time
- Use specific tools or assistive technology to aid students in their learning.
- Report any concerns or issues to the lead teacher and provide feedback on the student's performance.
Supporting Behavioral and Social Skills:
- Help students follow classroom rules and routines.
- Facilitate social interactions
- Assist in managing students' behavior by following behavior intervention plans.
- Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement.
Facilitating Small Group or One-on-One Support:
- Plan and facilitate centers to reinforce academic, functional, and therapy goals.
- Offer one-on-one support to students with more significant learning or behavioral needs.
Assisting with Physical and Daily Living Tasks:
- Help students with mobility, positioning, and physical needs (e.g., bathroom assistance, feeding, etc.).
- Assist students with transitioning between classes, activities, or locations.
- Provide assistance with personal hygiene when necessary.
Providing Administrative and Organizational Support:
- Set up and maintain learning materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Keep classroom clean and organized
- Prepare classroom displays, workstations, or individualized materials for students.
Collaboration with Other Staff:
- Work with teachers, other aides, and therapies to support student needs.
- Observe therapies to ensure appropriate carry-over of therapy goals.
- Attend meetings or training sessions as required to discuss student progress and strategies.
Promoting Inclusion and Independence:
- Encourage students to be as independent as possible in their learning and activities.
- Assist with modifying instruction or tasks to match students' abilities and needs.
