Position Overview: The Human Resource Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's mission by managing and maintaining compliance with all labor and safety regulations. This hands-on position ensures the well-being of our staff by fostering a positive workplace culture. The position works closely with the Executive Director, Business Operations Board Committee, and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals. This is a one person department that requires the person to work 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are incompliance.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes to ensure a diverse and talented workforce.
- Administer and ensure compliance of employee benefits (i.e. insurance and retirement plans, vacation, sickness, FMLA, and leaves of absence, unemployment, etc.).
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and retention.
- Design and execute training programs to ensure compliance and enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other directors and senior management to support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Practical experience in HR roles, such as internships or entry-level positions.
- Knowledge of labor laws, OSHA regulations, and human resource and safety best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in a non-profit environment is a plus.
