Our growing criminal defense firm in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Attorney to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to represent clients in a fast-paced, high volume legal environment. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling a range of criminal defense cases, including providing court representation, relaying plea offers, reviewing discovery, preparing and filing motions, and engaging directly with prospective clients.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to work
under pressure in a dynamic legal setting. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Communicate with clients, providing updates on case status and legal options.
- Review and analyze discovery documents to ensure thorough case preparation.
- Draft and file legal motions, documents, and pleadings.
- Engage with prospective clients, conduct initial consultations, and provide legal advice.
- Relay plea offers and negotiate on behalf of clients.
- Maintain detailed case files and case management systems.
Job Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the Florida Bar.
- 1-3 years of experience in criminal defense or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Fluency in Spanish is required to effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to think critically and solve complex legal issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
