The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC Lathes to machine high-quality components according to engineering specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to make programming adjustments as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Set up and secure fixtures, cutting tools, materials, and machine attachments, including mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
- Adjust machining parameters such as speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and cutting depth/angle, or modify CNC programs as necessary.
- Perform minor programming adjustments as needed (less than 50% of the time).
- Ensure all required components (rolls, pins, cones, etc.) are available before starting production.
- Initiate and monitor machine operations, troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Conduct first-part inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
- Measure all pockets, notches, counterbores, and grooves of finished components to ensure accuracy.
- Operate machines daily to produce high-quality components efficiently while maintaining safety and productivity standards.
- Adhere to ISO guidelines and accurately complete all required computer system functions.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring machines are free from metal shavings and debris.
- Follow all company safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
