SUMMARYOperates a variety of heavy equipment including preventive maintenance. Daily operation of equipment would include: three-wheel street brooms, specialized trash machines, large farm/beach tractors, beach sanitizer machines, tracked and wheeled skid steer loaders. Occasional equipment can include loaders, excavators, backhoes, tankers, flatbeds, snowplows, dump trucks, etc.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs maintenance worker duties when not acting as a heavy equipment operator.When not operating equipment, will perform duties as maintenance worker to maintain the cleanliness and functions of the Town streets, beach and boardwalk areas including support of numerous special events. Work includes some lifting of heavy items with and without assistance.Work schedules vary but will include nights, weekends, and holidays during the year.Prior work experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine maintenance reports and brief correspondence. Ability to speak communicate with the general public and employees.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
