Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, this safety-sensitive part time position is responsible for performing tasks required for the delivery of stage services in a full-service, multi-purpose Arts Center including related supervisory tasks as assigned.

Works under the general supervision of the Production Manager.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Some supervision of other stagehands as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the assembly and disassembly of lighting, sound, scenic elements and band gear. The construction of risers and musical equipment as well as other specialized theatrical equipment. Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks. Assist in the production of live events including the operation of theatrical equipment including spotlights and other lighting, video and projection elements and moving scenery. Assist with the proper maintenance of theatrical equipment and, in addition, maintains a safe working facility for employees and patrons. May Occasionally act as a Stage Manager for some events. May perform supervisory duties while assisting in these tasks as assigned.


PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as picking up supplies needed for events, helping set up for classes, meetings, events, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
 Has a general understanding of and receives cross-training in all facility operations. May staff these functions from time to time depending on scheduling needs.
 
 Performs related work as assigned by supervisor. Works on special projects as assigned. Works on Town-wide initiatives and programs as assigned.
 
 Serves as facility staff on duty as scheduled. The ability to work a flexible schedule including mostly evening and weekend hours is required. Holiday work may be required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be 18 years of age or older. One to two (1-2) years of experience in theater production or a closely related area required. Bachelors degree in theater production/technical theater or related area preferred.
 
 Knowledge of, experience in, and/or strong interest in arts and culture is preferred.
 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to criminal history search and drug screen is required. 
 
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town officials, community organizations, the public, promoters, coworkers and supervisors.
 
 Strong customer service skills and a willingness to help people.
 
 Knowledge of principles of sales and promotions.
 
 Knowledge of and ability to apply basic analytical, math, and accounting skills.
 
 Working knowledge of theatrical equipment and procedures such as theatrical lighting, audio systems, video projection, fly systems, etc.
 
 Ability to effectively foster relationships with the public and to handle stressful situations. 
 
 Ability to interact with a broad range of people to effectively accomplish assigned tasks or projects.
 
 Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities. Must be able to work under and adhere to deadlines, even under stressful or difficult situations.
 
 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
 
 Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions, and the ability to issue clear and concise verbal and/or written instructions to others and report operations verbally or in written form.
 
 Ability to assist in setting up events and shows. 
 
 Must have current Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
 
 Ability to work flexible hours including mostly weekends, evenings, and holidays as workload demands and as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 

Various theatrical equipment, computers, software packages, town vehicles, telephones, copy machines, printers, and small hand tools.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to stand, walk, talk, use hands, fingers, handle, feel, or operate objects, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally sit. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to drive.
 
 Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. 
 The employee will be required to occasionally work in high places such as a theatrical catwalk, climb and balance. The employee must be able to frequently carry, pull, push, or lift up to 50 pounds. 
 
 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust his or her focus, allowing a broad field of vision.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a theatrical or event facility and occasionally at outdoor events. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate but may be loud upon occasion. The employee will frequently experience dust, and occasional fumes, odors, mists and smoke. The employee will occasionally be exposed to hazards, such as mechanical and electrical, or burns.

Part-time and Seasonal Town of Parker employees have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse. Full pay range is:  $19.10/hr. - $24.20/hr.
