What you'll do :

Depending on your expertise and interests, you will be placed on one of two Data Scientist teams :

Forecasting (Bellevue, WA) : This role is responsible for the research and application of forecasting models to support planning and recommendation related products across the platform. Accurate forecasting is critical for us to give timely feedback on user selection in audience, inventory, and other campaign setups. Our forecasting model uses deep learning models to capture the massive signals used in execution.

The main job directions include :

  • Develop ML / deep learning based forecasting models to support pre-flight and mid-flight forecasting implementations, including signal collection, feature construction, model evaluation and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with engineers on signal collection pipeline, model deployment, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with downstream teams to understand their forecasting needs and design appropriate models.
  • Design success metrics and explore campaign reporting data.
  • Use data to drive iterative model improvement.

Inventory (Denver, CO) : In this role, you will work with Data Scientists, Engineers, and Product Managers to develop products that give advertisers access to high-quality impressions across web, Connected TV, audio, and other channels. Our efforts enhance the curation and selection process by surfacing the most relevant and performant inventory choices to our users.

The main job directions include :

  • Use data signals from various sources within TTD as well as third-party providers to define inventory quality and scale related metrics.
  • Design and analyze experiments (e.g. A / B tests) to validate marketplace and inventory initiatives.
  • Research control theory and systems to improve solutions optimizing advertising spend against inventory contracts.
  • Utilize time series forecasting techniques to predict advertising spend across marketplaces and inventory contracts.
  • Use modeling techniques to build recommendation systems that expand inventory targeting while improving relevance and other business outcomes.
  • Work with the product team to develop product strategy and data science research plan.
  • Develop data science prototypes and work with the engineering team to test and productionize models.
  • Who we are looking for :

  • Proficient in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL).
  • Hands-on experience building deep learning models at large scale.
  • Familiar with forecasting domain with solid knowledge background and application experience.
  • Possessing a keen sense of data intuition and the ability to innovate in the field of model development.
  • Deep understanding of the foundations of statistics and applied mathematics.
  • Proficient in programming for data science in one or more open-source programming languages.
  • Desire to work on projects end-to-end (from research to production).
  • What you bring to the table :

  • Enrolled in a BS / MS / PhD program in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field and expected to graduate in the Spring of 2025.
  • Completed courses, research, or work experience in metric development, machine learning, statistical modeling, time series forecasting, and experiment design.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL.
  • The ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience running heavy workloads on a distributed computing cluster (especially EMR or Databricks) is a plus.
  • Note : Interns are not eligible for variable incentive awards such as stock-based compensation, retirement plan, vacation, tuition reimbursement, or parental leave.
