What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Scientist -Inventory & Marketplace Quality position at The Trade Desk?
Data scientists at TTD work closely with engineeringthroughout the lifecycle of the product, from ideation to productionization and monitoring. Our data scientists are end-to-end owners. You will participate actively in all aspects of designing, researching, building, and delivering data-focused products for our clients and traders.
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Inventory & Marketplace quality team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing metrics to measure inventory quality using a variety of signals and data sources, designing experiments and estimation methods to understand the effects of bidstream metadata on advertising KPIs, and researching algorithms / models to optimize ad spend while balancing pre-negotiated contracts and business outcomes.
The main job directions include :
- Use data signals from various sources within TTD as well as third party providers to define inventory and marketplace quality related metrics.
- Utilize statistical modeling and causal inference techniques to understand the effects of inventory quality and other metadata on real time bidding and advertising outcomes.
- Research control theory and systems to improve solutions optimizing advertising spend against inventory contracts.
- Design and analyze experiments (g. A / B test) to validate marketplace quality and inventory initiatives.
- Work with product team to develop product strategy and data science research plan. Develop data science prototypes. Work with engineering team to drive the model from research to test and fully productionization.
- Mentor junior data scientist in the team with tech lead responsibilities.

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $123,900—$227,200 USD
