Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and aluminum.
Essential Functions
- Studies blueprints, sketches, or plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated for Exhibits
- Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials
- Erects framework for structures
- Multiskilled in all assembly techniques and equipment throughout the department.
- Ability to assist in other departments.
- Ability to follow CAD drawings
- Ability to handle all projects with little to no supervision
- Will be expected to train/mentor carpenter apprentices
- Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
- Effectively works with a team of builders to construct assigned projects from start to completion
- Accurately interprets and works from plans and fabrication drawings
- Ability to successfully manage construction of multiple custom projects
- Experience working with a range of materials, to include plywood, MDF, laminate and plexi.
- Ability to use multiple types of equipment, to include a table saw, router, etc.
- Regulate material usage to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency on project
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Been with the company 5 years as a carpenter.
- Ability to lead a team to complete projects with little to no supervision.
- Ability to coordinate with other departments for the completion of a project.
- Basic hand tool knowledge, table saw, chop saw and lamination.
- Ability to follow CAD drawings.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly under company deadlines.
- Cooperative, courteous, flexible and good natured.
- Conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active.
- Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and deal with employees in an efficient and professional manner.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and commitment to meeting and exceeding deadlines and goals.
- Valid drivers license.
