Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and well-rounded Sports Coach to join our dynamic team. This unique role combines traditional coaching with a performance and recovery-based training approach. The ideal candidate will not only have a strong background in coaching young athletes across various sports—including soccer, football, softball, basketball, and more—but will also be open and willing to integrate sports physical therapy principles into training sessions.
As part of a facility that offers both sports performance and sports recovery services, the Sports Coach will work closely with physical therapists and performance specialists to ensure training programs support injury prevention, long-term development, and overall athletic well-being. This position focuses on youth and adolescent athletes, creating a positive, structured, and safe environment that fosters both athletic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead engaging training sessions tailored to individual and team needs across a variety of sports.
- Incorporate injury prevention, mobility, and recovery-focused strategies into training, in collaboration with sports physical therapy staff.
- Teach fundamental techniques, strategies, and rules of each sport in a way that is fun, educational, and developmentally appropriate.
- Promote values such as teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and a growth mindset.
- Manage behavior positively and effectively to maintain a safe and supportive training environment.
- Monitor athletes’ progress and provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Organize small-sided competitions and drills with a focus on learning and safety.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding athlete development and needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional training space that reflects our commitment to athlete care.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience coaching youth in one or more sports; experience with swim, karate, or climbing instruction is a plus.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn and integrate physical therapy concepts (injury prevention, movement screening, corrective exercises).
- Strong behavior management skills and a positive, energetic presence.
- Knowledge of youth physical education and child development principles.
- Previous experience working in youth programs, summer camps, or childcare is a strong asset.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- A genuine passion for working with young athletes and helping them grow through sports.
