Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

As a Director, Marketing Strategy Lead, you will help shape and implement integrated marketing strategies that position Travelers as the preferred holistic provider for business customers' insurance needs. You will work to deliver positive outcomes in keeping with cross-business-unit objectives, including but not limited to, new and expanded business demand generation. As a collaborative thought leader and trusted advisor, you will effectively drive data-driven marketing and distribution channel engagement from ideation to execution, and will deliver initiatives that business and field sales leaders will embrace and champion. The Director will manage relationships at all levels and execute strategies efficiently by partnering effectively with business experts and Enterprise Integrated Marketing teams.

What Will You Do?

  • Develop components of business-to-business (B2B) marketing strategies for a subset of business units and/or practices that include a clear assessment of business objectives and desired outcomes, relevant audience insights, prioritized proposals for marketing initiatives based on marketing best practices, measures of success and timelines and overarching sales story.
  • Help build and execute leading go-to-market approaches based on an in-depth understanding of business plans and organizational structure.
  • Foster relationships with partners in the Business, Field sales, Claim and Risk Control to engage in the ideation process and co-create impactful, differentiated marketing positioning while working with Field Marketing, Training and Sales Enablement to execute specific activations.
  • Partner with Enterprise Market Research and Enterprise CX teams (e.g. voice of the customer and agent) to execute outside-in research and supplement with independent learning through industry conferences and trade shows to inform marketing strategies with customer, agent/broker and competitor insights.
  • Create one or more marketing strategy briefs and partner with Enterprise Integrated Marketing Planners to ensure that they are translated into efficient and effective integrated marketing plans that include content, events, channel plans and measurement approaches.
  • Help develop and execute strategies for live and virtual events to maximize our impact on preference and demand among prospects and agents/brokers, in partnership with our Enterprise Integrated Marketing Events team.
  • Be a steward of the business with a thirst for learning following industry content and thought leaders.
  • Provide strategic consultation to key business units and field leaders, gain business leader approvals and maintain effective communication with leaders at multiple levels throughout the life of a campaign or marketing initiative.
  • Maximize Business Insurance adoption of and benefit derived from new Martech and sales capabilities across people, process, technology and data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of B2B marketing experience, 4 of which in insurance marketing.
  • Experience translating the features and benefits of insurance products into market leading positioning that wins deals and retains accounts.
  • Sales Enablement and Event Marketing experience.
  • Working knowledge of B2B marketing concepts and Martech landscape, with an ability to translate capabilities to actionable strategies. Seismic and Seismic Learning knowledge is a plus.
  • Working knowledge on how to research and target wants/needs of various audiences.
  • Highly collaborative work style and ability to demonstrate credibility to other functions when leading cross functional teams.
  • Advanced presentation (PowerPoint) skills with impeccable verbal and written communication.
  • Strong bias toward action, results-oriented and persistent, with the ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Technically astute when it comes to working with marketing technology and data.
  • An analytical and creative thinker who comes up with solutions "outside the box" when presented with novel or complex challenges.

  • 4 years of marketing experience.
