Located in the heart of Galveston’s Strand District, The Tremont House is the foundation of the neighborhood, inspired and influenced by its local surroundings. Guests of the property can expect a strong sense of place, defined by urban activity and authentic materials inspired by the history and creative culture of Galveston.

Located at 2300 Mechanic Street, the hotel offers 135 rooms including 27 suites, an intimate atrium style lobby and a relaxed, open-air rooftop sanctuary that showcases the best views in town. Amenities also include our historic Toujouse Bar, Blum & Co. restaurant, fully equipped fitness center, and Galveston’s only Rooftop bar. The Tremont has just finished a top to bottom transformation and is a Tribute Portfolio by Marriott.

Who we want

We are seeking an energetic and well-organized night audit guru to provide our guests with a first-class southern hospitality driven guest experience. As a night auditor, you will work closely with the Hotel operations team and the Night Audit/Accounting Manager to exceed our guest’s expectations. Your duties will include being responsible for providing leadership overnight and proper closing of the operating systems nightly. This exciting role is the spotlight of our arrival experience, departure experience, and everything in between. You will ensure the delivering the perfect experience for our guests and anticipate needs beyond the checklist.

Role and Responsibilities

A Night Auditor is primarily responsible for meeting and maintaining guest satisfaction by creating remarkable and effortless experiences from the moment the guest walks up to the Guest Services area, providing a memorable and distinctive experience that will not be forgotten or mistaken.

· Provide our guests with the best in service, courtesy, and care by responding promptly to guest requests, assistance, directions, and other amenities or information. Follow up with guests during their visit to ensure overall satisfaction.

· Attend pre-shift meetings to learn daily particulars, including guest and hotel expectations, to ensure consistency.

· Your passion for service will be reflected in how you perform your duties, the accuracy, e.g., balance room, restaurant, and bar daily work: post and balance charges and settlements quickly and efficiently. Maintain files and reset the systems for next-day operations.

- Prepare daily restaurant revenue report data by auditing point of sale system tapes and journals to break down revenue, covers, server fees, tips paid out, and settlements by type and cashier.

- Run audit reports and journals from the mainframe, the point-of-sale system, and the system for automated credit cards.

- Make corrections and adjustments via the Guest Services System and handle all computer problems that might occur throughout the shift.

- Balance all revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files and reset the next-day operations system.

- Input onto the computer revenue, expenses, and allowances to generate the daily reports such as the Guest Ledger Summary and the Daily Restaurant Summary. Ensure all necessary copies of documents, back-ups, and daily work reports are distributed to the proper departments, i.e., A/R, A/P, and Payroll). Ensure all reports and backup vouchers are complete and filed appropriately.

- Foster strong working relationships within Guest Services and, equally important, with other departments by communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction. Share any relevant information with the corresponding departments to ensure a successful outcome daily, such as the coordination of Guest Services and Restaurants/bar(s) closing to facilitate a smooth operation of file maintenance and reset of system totals.

- Maintain workplace safety and corporate compliance by taking proactive measures, enforcing Hotel safety standards.

- Ensure proper cleanliness, use, repair of all Guest Services equipment and closet/storage areas.

· Use a daily checklist to complete projects.

· Ensuring guest satisfaction includes the prompt return of lost or items accidentally left behind in our hotels. All associates are responsible for turning in all items found to the hotel's Lost & Found Department immediately.

· Provide instruction and guidance for guest's and associate's safety in fire or other emergencies.

· Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc., to Safety/Security Department.

· Other duties as assigned.

Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Knowledge of accounting operations includes all aspects such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, server service fees, etc.

· Basic mathematical skills to prepare moderately complex calculations for financial reporting via a moderately complex system to meet deadlines, operate 10-key by touch, complete necessary reports, and understand information from the hotel, regional or corporate offices.

  • Ability to stand and move about in the Guest Services and restaurant/bar areas throughout the shift.

· Ability to obtain any government-required licenses or certificates.

· Physical Demands:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Some sedentary office work to complete reports and other computer-related projects. As business demands, ability to perform under the physical and environmental demands as the positions reporting to the Director of Guest Services , see respective job descriptions.

· Environmental Conditions:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered "inside" if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.

Other Expectations:

· Due to the seasonal nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the hotel's business needs. This includes nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Irregular attendance may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including severing employment.

· To ensure a safe and healthy working environment, all associates are required to comply with health and safety standards, regulations, and procedures and take on the responsibility and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties; training will be provided.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED preferred; or

· Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job functions.

· 1-year experience as a Guest Services Agent required; hotel experience preferred.

· CPR Certification required, Frist Aide training, and AED Certification preferred.

· Given that our guests visit our hotels from all regions of the world, additional/multilingual ability is preferred to provide a personalized experience to our guests.
