Compensation : $ 70,000 - $85,000 Commensurate with Experience

Annual Incentive : Up to 10% of Base Salary

Lesson Income : $10,000 - $15,000 Annual Estimate

Relocation : Relocation Assistance Provided

Position Overview :

The Senior Assistant Golf Professional will lead golf operations, including daily course play, tournaments, instruction, member and guest relations, outings and events, merchandise, and outside operations. In this position, the Senior Assistant Golf Professional will assist in hiring, training, leading, managing, developing, and coaching the golf operations team by promoting and instilling a team environment that provides efficient operations and exceptional services and golf experiences for members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assist in creating and maintaining a high-performance team built on teamwork by effectively hiring, training, leading, managing, developing, and coaching the golf operations team.
  • Positively represent the Club and golf operations in all interactions with members and guests and when attending or participating in events outside the Club.
  • Develop member relations and interest in the Club by playing golf with members, guests, and potential members and representing the Club in outside golf tournaments and outings.
  • Assist in preparing, recommending, and managing the annual budget for golf operations.
  • Assist in creating and promoting a safe work environment by implementing safety procedures and practices, training, education, and communication.
  • Assist in managing the Club's tee time software to ensure fair and proper allocation of tee times and course usage is fully maximized.
  • Assist in originating, recommending, organizing, implementing, directing, and assisting with golf outings and tournaments and effectively communicate and coordinate planning and execution activities with other department personnel, such as in Grounds Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and Catering.
  • Monitor play on the golf course with special attention to the pace of play and implement immediate corrective action as needed to improve the pace of play and address any other issues on the course.
  • Act as the Club's rules official, advising members and guests during tournaments, outings, and events as necessary and providing rules training to the golf operations team.
  • Assist the golf instruction team in providing golf lessons, marketing and promoting golf instruction, and ensuring golf instruction attracts a broad spectrum of new and experienced players.
  • Assist with golf shop scheduling and merchandise activities, ensuring a qualified team is available in the Golf Shop to assist with tee times and merchandise sales and to engage with members and guests proactively; the Club's equipment offerings and merchandise represent the Club's demographics, and managing and overseeing the inventory.
  • Assist in overseeing outside operations, ensuring optimal customer service and that all outside operations areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout the day.

Qualifications :

  • Experience leading teams and creating an effective, efficient, team-oriented, customer-focused work environment.
  • Experience in organizing, leading, and managing tournaments, outings, and events.
  • Class A PGA Professional designation.
  • Teaching experience with a passion for growing the game.
  • Experience with merchandise sales and inventory.
  • Experience with tee time, point-of-sales, and other related software, as well as experience with Golf Genius, Members First, and USGA Handicapping system, is preferred.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf operations, merchandise, and tournament / outing operations.
  • Ability to play golf competitively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of developing, monitoring, and analyzing budgets and expenses.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Golf Management or related discipline is desirable.
