 Hourly Rate: $24.00 per hour

Hours per week: 40  

Job Classification: Nonexempt, Full-Time, Year-Round  

Job Type: Onsite  

Schedule: Monday - Friday, some evenings and weekends required

Location: Fruitlands Museum, Harvard, MA 

  

What You’ll Do:

Your Impact 

At Fruitlands Museum in Harvard and the Old Manse in Concord, you’ll play a crucial role in connecting people with the beauty of nature, art, and history. As the Public Programs Coordinator, you will foster engaging experiences that build community connections and inspire visitors to explore our vibrant landscapes, historic homes, unique exhibits, and cultural resources. 

The Role  

In this full-time (40 hours per week) position, you will be at the heart of executing a variety of indoor and outdoor events. From lively concerts to educational nature programs and interactive art classes, each day will bring new opportunities to engage diverse audiences and bring innovative programs to life. 

Specifically, you’ll: 

  • Community Engagement: Work on-site at both properties in Harvard and Concord respectively. 
  • Curate Experiences: Execute captivating public programs that highlight the intersection of art, nature, and history. 
  • Engage and Inspire: Write compelling program descriptions for our website to attract and excite visitors. 
  • Manage Events with Flair: Oversee group reservations and collaborate with partners and vendors to ensure seamless event execution and tour experiences at both properties. 
  • Promote and Share: Utilize social media to create buzz around programs and properties through engaging posts, ads, and marketing efforts. 
  • Lead a Passionate Team: Schedule and manage volunteers, Interpreters, and event assistants, fostering a collaborative environment. 
  • Optimize Resources: Manage income and expenses to maximize net revenue for sustainable programming. 
  • Administrative Duties:  Various administrative tasks to aid in the management of the Museum offices. 

This full-time, nonexempt, position working 40 hours per week, reporting directly to the Senior Regional Engagement Manager. It is an on-site role requiring daily presence. 

What You’ll Need   

  • Experience: 3-5 years in event management, marketing, or museum studies. 
  • Leadership Skills: Natural leader with supervisory experience, thriving in collaborative settings. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Excel, Canva, and registration/POS software. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communicator with a knack for customer service and engaging diverse audiences. 
  • Writing Skills: Exemplary writing skills are required for this position.  Ability to adapt voices for different audiences, as well as strong business writing skills are keys to success. 
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects, and flexible to work weekends, some holidays, and occasional evenings. 

Eligibility Criteria  

  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment  
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check
