Job Position: RA (Residential Assistant)

Reports To: Director of Programs, Chief Operating Officer

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director Programs and Chief Operating Officer, they provide ON-SITE evening, late night and weekend support to young adults at the Foundation Houses. This includes supervision of participants and visitor activities, promoting program rules, crisis intervention and responding to maintenance emergencies to ensure a safe and clean-living environment for participants.

The resident assistant position focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the houses, including fostering community, being an academic resource, and being attentive to safety and security of participants. The position requires an individual who is flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as dictated by the changing needs of the participants. It is crucial that an individual be able to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. The RA is more than just a friendly presence; they are the crucial link in creating an environment in which participants develop independence and learn to live cooperatively with others.

Qualifications:

· Ability to live in a private bedroom at one of the Foundation Houses for the duration of employment as the RA

· Basic computer knowledge and skills

· Must be able to work independently and part of a team

· Must be self-aware, flexible, adaptable and teachable

· Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions

· A physical exam and a negative TB test results

· Must be an adult role model with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis-oriented and high stress situations

· Visual and auditory ability to observe critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation

· Ability to adequately observe participants activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedure

· Must possess the ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills

· Must be available to the program, during evening and late-night hours, including weekends and holidays

· Current CPR and First Aid certification required and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure a clean, well-maintain and safe facility

· Complete weekly detailed perimeter checks of the property and notify supervisor of any physical property needs or maintenance issues

· Ensure residents maintain safe and adequate living environment in accordance with program standards

· Respond to emergency calls from the residents when supervisors are not available

· Perform house and participant room cleanliness checks on bi-weekly basis or as required by Director of CLC

· Perform night checks on a weekly basis

· Available for participant check-ins if desired by the participant

· Ensure delivery of consistent levels of service, including coordination with all program staff

· Maintain agency record as required

· Communicate effectively with Director, co-workers, participants, families and other service providers

· Communicate with Director regarding any intervention issues with residents

· Provide crisis intervention, situational and group mediation to participants after hours as needed

· Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures when necessary

· Coordinate resolutions of maintenance emergencies after hours

· Daily oral and written communication with Director regarding nightly and weekly happenings with all residents

· Complete necessary documentation of critical incidents in a timely manner

· Attend staff and case planning meetings as required and participate in supervision with Director and clinical case manager, twice a monthly or as required by supervisor

· Lead weekly house meetings with the guidance from the Director and help plan and co-lead monthly all-house gatherings

· Participate in move in procedures with new residents as needed

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform other administrative task as assigned and assist with maintaining proper document storage and auditing

· Participate in staff meetings, staff trainings, and any other development events

Details:

· Living-In RA, private bedroom (Rent-Free)

· General Job Hours (subject to change) - Monday-Sunday: evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays

· Stipend: $500
