Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Accountant to oversee financial reporting, general ledger, and the accounts payable (AP) function. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, supporting month-end close processes, and providing insightful financial analysis for decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to improve financial processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepaids, and revenue recognition.
- Assist in budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Support Regional VP of Finance with requested analysis.
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations, journal entries, and expense tracking.
- Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring invoices are properly coded, approved, and processed on time.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and inefficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and financial best practices.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
- Support the integration and optimization of accounting software and reporting tools.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for financial reporting and functions.
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close procedures.
- Experience managing or supervising accounting staff, including AP and AR.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, COINS, ESC or similar ERP systems).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate across departments.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work performed primarily in an office environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift and carry light office supplies up to ten (10) pounds.
- Visual acuity to read and interpret financial documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
