PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Youth Studios Manager at The Union for Contemporary Art is vital in fostering meaningful relationships with youth participants and their parents. This position ensures that artistic development occurs in a safe, supportive, and creative environment. By facilitating these connections and nurturing a love for the arts, the Youth Studios Manager significantly contributes to the mission and success of The Union.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts dynamic and inspiring instructional sessions for MYA, providing personalized guidance and fostering a supportive learning environment.
2. Strategically promotes and markets core youth programs and other youth initiatives, focusing on youth and families residing in North Omaha
3. Coordinates community events and outings, carefully planning activities that equip youth with valuable skills, promote social interaction, and build lasting community ties.
4. Actively recruits and Supervises MYA participants, teaching artists, and workshop aides, meticulously handling applications, scheduling interviews, and overseeing the hiring and onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition.
5. Facilitates all orientations for youth programs, providing detailed and engaging introductions that set participants up for success.
6. Oversees key functions during summer camps, ensuring smooth and successful operations and creating a memorable and enriching experience for all participants
7. Develops and distributes comprehensive schedules for youth programming participants, ensuring clear and timely communication with parents and youth artists, and accommodating individual needs.
8. Oversees and delivers all units of youth programming, designing engaging and interactive sessions that cater to diverse learning styles and foster a passion for the arts.
9. Performs data entry and research gathering for youth programming, ensuring accurate records and utilizing data to support continuous improvement.
10. Manages Apple Business devices, ensuring the youth have safe and proper access to necessary apps during annual programming, and troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
11. Continuously refines student programs, implementing feedback and innovative approaches to foster artistic growth and personal development.
12. Oversees inventory supply and control for all events and activities related to programming, ensuring necessary materials are available and effectively utilized.
13. Tracking and managing budgets for all events, activities, and financial needs related to youth programming, ensuring responsible financial stewardship and transparency
16. Serves as the primary point of contact for peer mentors (MYA participants), teaching artists, and workshop aids, coordinating and facilitating effective and engaging workshop sessions.
17. Partners with community organizations to coordinate a variety of activities for youth and families, fostering strong community ties and collaborative opportunities.
18. Serves as the main contact for parents, providing clear, consistent communication and support, and addressing any concerns or questions promptly.
19. Coordinates weekly dinners for MYA participants, creating opportunities for building relationships through shared meals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth Studios Manager currently holds supervisory responsibilities over participants, peer mentors, teaching artists, and workshop aides. Must have at least two years managerial experience.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Executive Director authorizes all expenditures of funds based on proper documentation, contract compliance, and The Union disbursement procedures.
EDUCATION
Candidates must have completed secondary education or possess equivalent qualifications. Required minimum experience of four years in teaching, communications, arts or other related industries.
CERTIFICATIONS and LICENSES
Valid Driver’s License and proof of adequate liability insurance coverage for personal vehicle required.
