Job Description:
The Green Department at The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale seeks a passionate, career-driven, self-motivated, detail-oriented turf professional who takes pride in preparing a championship-caliber golf course experience for its members and guests. Whether it may be project-related, an agronomic process, or preparing for a Member-Guest tournament, the Assistant-In-Training will work closely with the Director of Agronomy, Superintendent, and other management team members to develop short and long-term goals and plans to be completed within the operation. Primary responsibilities will include course set-up, precise application of plant protectants and fertilizers, moisture management, equipment operation, and small crew leadership. Problem-solving and providing solutions to challenges that the team faces will also be a responsibility.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma. Aspires to pursue a certificate or degree in turfgrass maintenance or agronomy.
Experience Requirements:
1-3 years of progressive experience in the turfgrass maintenance industry.

The 20-acre course has Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass tees and fairways with bentgrass putting greens built on a variable depth rootzone. Our Club recently hired Andrew Green Design to develop a long-range master plan for the historic Donald Ross 18-hole golf course. A complete restoration of the course is expected in 2028-2029. Special Requirements:
Self-motivated, positive attitude, willing to exceed member expectations, work every other weekend from April to November and some holidays. The average work week will range from 40-60 hours. Obtain and maintain a PA Applicator's License within 90 days of hire and undergo a criminal background check.
Salary Range:
$19-21/ hour plus OT
