The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale’s Golf Course Maintenance Department is seeking an individual who enjoys working outdoors in a landscape maintenance atmosphere. Candidates should have a passion for horticulture and creating beautiful gardens around the clubhouse, swimming pool, golf training facility, Trap House, and on-course house flower beds.
Educational Requirements
- Horticulture background
- A degree or certificate is preferred, not required
- Willing to attend continuing education seminars in the off-season
- Work independently and in small groups
- Physically fit and able to move quickly from place to place
- Capable of kneeling, standing, and walking for 5-8 hours/ day
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency
- Willing to work in varying climatic conditions, including rainy, cold, and hot weather
- Punctual and have reliable transportation
- Able to complete a criminal background check
- Positive attitude with the mindset of constant improvement
- Properly and safely operate a hedge trimmer, pole saw, backpack blower, and manual transmission utility cart
- Annual mulching of beds
- Ongoing maintenance of flower beds to include pruning, weeding, hand watering, fertilizing, and chemical applications
- Selection and installation of seasonal plantings (spring, summer, and fall)
- Maintain and use equipment as if you own it personally
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Communicate well and work well with other team members
- Complete job tasks promptly with detail and quality
- Workdays vary from 5:30 am – 3:30 pm. Your desired schedule will be considered.
- Full Time year-round OR Seasonal Full Time (9 months) available
- Work holidays as needed. Most holidays pay 8 hours hours worked.
- Saturday mornings, April - November, as needed for moisture management and quality control measures
- $22.00 per hour depending on experience
- Full-time employees are eligible for PTO, Health Insurance, and 401K with company match
- Uniform shirts, hat, jacket, sweatshirt, raingear, safety-toe work boots, and safety gear provided
- Employee meals are provided when the clubhouse kitchen is open (March - December)
