Location: Orange CT The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $92,000- $115,000 The Manager- Programs/ Project position will act as a project manager to manage training and other project matters for the UI Electric System Substation Operations Department. The Workforce Training position applies skills and knowledge to: Manage multiple Substation Operations projects, including training, Safety Observers, and other projects. Successfully meet training and other project requirements. Monitor and control costs. Successful purchase and procure items in SAP. Solve complex project management and purchasing problems. Provide project management for multi-year projects and programs. It is the sole discretion of management to determine the specific expectations for the Workforce Training Project Manager. Key Responsibilities Lead teams in training and other projects by tracking schedules, costs and resources; and collect project status information for management review. Purchase and procure items in SAP for training and other projects that include: Preparing purchase requests and purchase orders. Troubleshooting and resolving procurement errors or issues with attention to detail. Processing work orders, receipts, accruals, and invoices. Provide project management for multiyear training programs and other projects. Solve complex project management problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative project management solutions. Plan and coordinate various aspects of the project life cycle. Prepare and maintain project management records and documentation as required. Promote cross-functional teamwork. Collaborate with the project team to implement and control the project (including status Internal Use reports, sponsor updates and team communications). Interpret customer and sponsor requirements leading others to resolve complex problems in non-standard situations. Develop business cases for projects and programs and related budgetary documents. Monitor and control costs to within work and project budgets. Willingness to work overtime to assist with storm or emergency work. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and minimum 3 years of experience or an associate degree with 5 years of experience. Graduate degree or post-graduate coursework related to project management is desired. Preferred utility construction and project management experience. Requires expertise in SAP Software Solutions and Microsoft Office software. Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing. Must have a pleasant manner and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Must have a customer service oriented “can do” approach to work. Must have superior organizational skills and accuracy. Excellent problem solving and people skills are required. Preferred Qualifications Preferred a project management degree. Preferred 5 or more years of project manager job experience.
