Job Title: Supervisor, Operations Company: The United Illuminating Company Location: Orange CT Business Area: Electric Operations Reports to: UI - Senior Director – Electric Operations The base salary range for this position is $107,254 to $139,431 and is dependent upon experience. Education BS/BA Degree Experience: Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university, 7 years of experience performing engineering duties, or an AS degree with 11 years of experience performing engineering duties. Specialized advanced training is required or will be obtained within 2 years (e.g., PTI, WPI, a graduate-level engineering degree). Purpose Will direct the day-to-day activities of operations engineers and technicians to ensure safe and reliable Transmission and Distribution (T&D) System Operations. Key Responsibilities/Duties: Direct Operations personnel to complete assigned tasks, conversions, projects, etc. Ability to direct a team and mentor others. Guide and mentor engineers and technicians in Operations. Will conduct performance evaluations of direct reports. Anticipates & make recommendations with respect to customer & stakeholder needs. Explains difficult concepts & influences others. May be required to make presentations to regulatory/public entities. Direct others to resolve complex system operating problems in non-standard situations & develop creative solutions. Apply Avangrid/UI design standards, industry codes, design criteria, and policies/procedures (e.g., planned system outage and clearance requests). Serve as SME for Operations. Review and evaluate proposals and projects. Represents Operations on projects, task forces, and studies (e.g., EEI, EPRI, ISO). Participates in Avangrid committees and electric utility industry associations. Maintains knowledge of leading-edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations. Interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practices and/or process improvements. Will review, analyze, and support planned construction projects, voltage conversions, maintenance activities, and responses to system disturbances, customer inquiries, and emergency events related to the operation of the T&D System. Develop needs statements & manage projects/processes/initiatives or teams by applicable Avangrid/UI guidelines. Coordinate phases of Operations work for assigned portions of a project/program (e.g. clearance requests). Uses in-depth knowledge to interpret processes and standards related to Operations such as NESC and NERC/CIP. Perform detailed, complex system analyses to support planning and engineering using standard methodology & principles & other viable approaches. Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services. Possess a depth and breadth of experience in transmission and distribution operations along with knowledge of internal/external business and regulatory issues (e.g., design criteria, standards, NESC, NERC/CIP). Able to explain difficult concepts and influence others to change. Able to communicate orally or in writing to regulatory and/or public entities.
