GCAH seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for the part-time position of Assistant Archivist. This position reports to the Head Archivist. The Assistant Archivist carries out a variety of archival processing tasks, including preservation, arrangement, description, creation of finding aids, supervision of student projects, and data entry. The successful candidate will assist the Digital Archivist in digitizing selected materials for upload to the digital asset management system. The Assistant Archivist will also work to ensure the long-term preservation of digitized materials and records. The position is on-site.

Responsibilities:
- Preserves, arranges and describes manuscripts, photographs, audiovisuals, and artifacts, whether physical or digital, as directed by the Archives Department Staff.
- Digitizes images, physical records, audio, and audiovisual recordings for long-term preservation.
- Assists with student projects.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- MLIS degree with a concentration on archives in process or completed.
- Highly developed attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and VueScan software. Experience with Audacity is an asset.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds

Benefits: Part-time employees working 20-29 hours/week will receive a GCAH-paid 8% contribution to the UMPIP program. In addition, up to 2% will be matched in the UMPIP program by GCAH if the employee elects to invest a portion of their paycheck in the UMPIP plan.
Accountability: The Assistant Archivist reports to the Head Archivist.
Start Date: February 1, 2025
Location: Applicants must report to on-campus work at the United Methodist Archives and History Center in Madison, NJ.
Term: This position is a two-year position, with potential to turn over to full-time with potential relocation.
Weekly hours and salary Range: 20 hours/week, $20-25/hour, depending upon education level.
