Mt Zion UMC in Marietta, GA seeks to hire a full time Director of Missions and Youth Ministries. This position will lead youth discipleship for middle school and high school-age youth and develop and coordinate churchwide missions activities.
Duties include:
Youth Area -
- Leading gatherings for youth that currently are offered Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings.
- Building relationships with youth within and outside of the church to help them grow in their relationship with God.
- Offering retreats, outings, and events for youth to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. This includes planning, booking, financial administration, transportation, recruiting, volunteers, and promotion.
- Recruiting and training volunteers to facilitate ministry with our youth. Ensuring volunteers are equipped, empowered, appreciated, and abide by our Safe Sanctuary policy.
- Fostering youth engagement in worship and other ministries of the church.
Missions Area –
- Building on our existing missions and outreach ministries to develop a robust, intergenerational, churchwide missions program.
- Planning yearly overnight missions trips, including international and domestic opportunities.
- Work with existing outreach committee to enhance regular missions programming.
- Coordinating educational and spiritual formation opportunities for the congregation to learn about healthy and fruitful approaches to missions and to develop a theology of mission.
General -
- Being available for limited general ministry support in consultation with the senior and associate pastor, including assisting in worship and pastoral care.
- Serving as a staff representative on our outreach committee and other committees, including the Church Council.
