Are you a creative, organized, and ministry-minded individual looking for a meaningful role in church leadership? Wheeler United Methodist Church is seeking a Ministry Assistant who thrives in a dynamic, relational environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Support Pastoral Ministry – Assist in worship preparation, liturgical events, and event marketing while working closely with pastoral leadership.
- Engage in Media Outreach – Oversee and maintain church social media, website updates, the narthex screens (Proclaim), and the weekly email newsletter. (The AV team handles ProPresenter for sanctuary projection.)
- Support Age-Level Ministries – Recruit, equip, and resource volunteers for all age-level ministries, with a special focus on Wheeler Kids (Sunday School & Grace Space) and coordination with Youth and Joy! (55 ) ministries.
- Participate in Church Leadership – Actively contribute to the Ministry Council and collaborate with office staff to provide training and support.
- Lead Faith Formation Opportunities – In coordination with the pastor, develop and facilitate an interactive program or study (e.g., a themed event for Wheeler Kids or a women's spiritual retreat).
What You Bring:
- A strong understanding of United Methodist doctrine and the ability to support our engaging blended worship style.
- Excellent volunteer recruitment and coordination skills to foster a thriving ministry community.
- Tech-savviness, including strong computer skills, the ability to learn new software, and familiarity with Canva.
- Basic office skills and comfort using office equipment.
- A flexible, relational approach—while most work happens on-site, some creative and administrative tasks may be done remotely.
Position Details:
- Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility during busy liturgical seasons.
