- 40% Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise field trips, special events, speakers and summer enrichment programs. Research, prepare and conduct educational workshops. May conduct enrichment sessions improving reading, writing or math skills during summer program.
- 30% Provide group and individual assessment and advising services to parents and students on college entry/re-entry, academic, career, financial aid, and other areas of concern. Assist students/parents in completing various college related forms and may act as a liaison with the various college departments.
- 10% Interact and act as a liaison with off-campus organizations and other post-secondary institutions.
- 10% Recruit program participants and follows-up on incomplete applications. Document student contacts and services provided.
- 10% Write reports for the federal government, University and Coordinator outlining goals, objectives and accomplishments. Attend professional development seminars, workshops and conferences.
Additional Position Information:
Required Qualifications: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years experience working with low income and first generation college middle/high school students, parents, entry/re-entry students and school personnel.Working knowledge and understanding of University financial aid and admission policies and procedures is required.Excellent presentation and organizational skills to plan and conduct workshops required. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population required. Computer skills including word processing, database, spreadsheets and presentation software required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with low income and first-generation college middle/high school students, parents, entry/re-entry students and school personnel. Working knowledge and understanding of university financial aid and admission policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements: Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc. May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.
