Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evenings & weekends required
Job Summary: The Event and External Relations Coordinator directs the planning, implementation, execution, follow-up, and budget of events occurring both on and off campus. Attracts financial resources, quality students, corporate participation, and external support. Conceptualizes event theme. Creates invitation lists. Selects event site and seating arrangements. Manages inventory. Negotiates with florist, caterers, hotel sales directors, and print shops for maximum cost containment. Manages on-site contract staff, clerical support, and student assistants. Develops and manages event budget.
Additional Department Summary: Directs the planning, implementation, execution, follow-up, and budget of events occurring both on- and off-campus. Coordinates outreach efforts to alumni. Supports the attraction of financial resources, quality students, corporate participation, and external support. Conceptualizes event themes, creates invitation lists, selects sites, creates seating arrangements, manages inventory, negotiates with florist, caterers, hotel sales directors, and print shops for maximum cost containment. Manages on-site contract staff, clerical support, and student assistants. Develops and manages a budget. Develops and maintains database of alumni.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some event planning or coordination experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of event planning or coordination experience; OR high school diploma or GED and four (4) years of event planning or coordination experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to travel.
