Position Overview:
The University of Arizona’s (U of A) College of Nursing is seeking an NIH R01-funded Associate Dean for Research (ADR) to lead its prestigious nursing research enterprise, which is highly ranked and well-funded. The ADR will enhance our research and faculty scholarship objectives by fostering a supportive mentoring environment that boosts research productivity among faculty and pre- and post-doctoral scholars. They will oversee the Office of Research and Scholarship (ORS) resources and assist faculty and student colleagues in their research scholarship, ensuring that outcomes are visible. The ADR will collaborate with the administrative team and the Division Directors to manage and expand available resources and report directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
College
- Build on an expanding research foundation within the college.
- Advance faculty research capacity by providing research development sessions, faculty resources, and research mentoring.
- Facilitate innovative research and robust research training across the college.
- Facilitate the attainment of extramural research funding across clusters of investigators.
- Increase collaborations across the UAHS campus and colleges across the UA campus.
- Engage in strategic planning and build relationships to increase funding streams.
- Advocate for resource allocation to and manage the resources of the ORS.
- Conduct ORS staff recruitment, screening, appointment, orientation, evaluation, promotion, and other aspects of career development as needed.
- Collaborate in and initiate the recruitment of research-intensive faculty.
- Grow and expand personal research program and scholarship.
- Serve as a member of the college administrative team and participate in relevant administrative meetings.
University and Campus:
- Act as liaison to and facilitator for inter-institutional and inter-disciplinary research and research training initiatives.
- Interface with the campus Office of Vice-president for Research and Discovery.
External Community:
- Develop and create visibility for college-aligned research and research training across constituents.
- Broker partnerships with community leaders and agencies for synergistic research initiatives.
Qualifications:
· Terminal degree in Nursing or a health-related field.
· Administrative leadership experience in academia.
· Record of professional service commensurate with rank.
· Program of scholarship and scholarly activities commensurate with the rank of Professor with tenure.
