Job Summary
Professor Ayelet Fishbach anticipates hiring a Principal Researcher. This position is designed to support a talented behavioral scientist who is interested in the study of motivation in psychology and business. To this end, the Principal Researcher will conduct research both independently and in collaboration with Professor Fishbach and the Center for Decision Research at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
The position is open to candidates who have recently earned their Ph.D., or who are expecting their degree in 2025-2026, in any area of psychology or business. Utilize close familiarity with methods of experimentation and experience conducting field, lab-based and web-based experiments. Generate original research questions and implement studies to investigate those questions. Specific duties will include participating in study design, data acquisition and analysis, manuscript development, and presentation/publication of results.

Responsibilities
- Conducts collaborative research with faculty to be presented at academic forums and published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Collects data and conducts statistical analysis.
- Conducts literature reviews and performs research.
- Teaching Assistant responsibility for up to two sections each year of a behavioral science course for MBAs taught by the managing faculty member.
- Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design.
- Guides data collection, evaluation and analysis. Designs and manages databases. Writes reports, articles and manuscripts.
- Performs other related work as needed.

- PhD by start date in a field relevant to the research being conducted.

- Proficiency in a programming language such as Python.

- Work independently with little supervision.
- Self-motivated disposition.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes.
- This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
