Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Credentialing Assistant for our Medical Staff Office department. Manage the initial and re-appointment application process by working with providers to complete application timely. Review applications for completeness and accuracy; work with providers to obtain missing or incomplete items.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage the initial and re-appointment application process by working with providers to complete application timely. Review applications for completeness and accuracy; work with providers to obtain missing or incomplete items.
- Create urgency with provider to return signed applications in a timely manner, with a goal of having applications returned to facility for processing within 10 days from initial request.
- Assist Credentialing Coordinators with obtaining outstanding documents in order to meet established deadlines.
- Performs initial set up and maintenance of provider information in online credentialing databases and systems.
- Run weekly expirables reports to identify providers with upcoming expiring licenses and certifications.
- Ensures that provider’s medical licenses, board certification, professional-liability insurance coverage, DEA and other pertinent information are renewed prior to expiration 100% of the time.
- Facilitate and track the escalation of outstanding expirables and communicates with both providers and hospital medical staff to ensure licenses and privileges are current.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of medical staff administration and credentialing principles.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of JCAHO standards, Illinois, Indiana, CMS and NCQA regulations preferred.
- Excellent PC skills, including electronic technology.
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and department staffs and other customers.
